Yes. Every code you create is free to download and use, including for commercial work. There is no watermark, no trial period and no account to create.
No. Codes are generated in your browser. Your links, Wi-Fi passwords, contact details and logos are not uploaded to our servers.
No. These are static codes: your content is written directly into the pattern. As long as the page it points to is online, the code keeps working.
Not on a static code, because the link is part of the pattern. If you expect the destination to change, point the code at a page you control, like your menu or a links page, and update that page instead.
Use SVG for print and design tools: it is a vector file and stays sharp at any size. Use PNG for websites, documents and social posts. PNG exports go up to 4096 × 4096 px.
Make the code at least one tenth of the scanning distance. A code read from 1 metre away should be about 10 cm wide. Never go below 2 × 2 cm.
A static QR code can’t hold a file, only a link to it. Upload your PDF or image somewhere public, such as Google Drive, Dropbox or your own website, set sharing to “anyone with the link” and paste that link. We don’t host files.
Your links are written into the code as part of an address on this website. When someone scans it, our /l/ page reads them from the address and lists them. Nothing is stored on a server, but the page has to be online for the code to work.
Not if it stays small. When you add a logo we switch error correction to High, the strongest level, and keep the logo under about a quarter of the code’s width so it still reads. Keep strong contrast between code and background, and test before printing.
